Quotes from the Charter 77 declaration from 1977 in Czechoslovakia, Vaclav Havel went from jailed dissident to president of the country using nonviolent methods. Here are some of his ideas that should be used to bring down Scientology: "Charter 77 is a loose, informal and open association of people of various shades of opinions, faiths and professions united by the will to strive and individually and collectively for the respecting of civil and human rights in our own country and throught the world... Charter 77 is not an organization; it has no rules, permanent bodies or formal membership. It embraces everyone who agrees with its ideas and participates in its work." "It does not aim, then, to set out its own platform of political or social reform or chage, but to conduct a constructive dialogue... particularly by drawing attention to individual cases where human and civil rights are violated, to document such grievances and suggest remedies, to make proposals of a more general character calculated to reinforce such rights and machinery for protecting them, to act as intermediary in situations of conflict which may lead to violations of rights, and so forth." "It is folly to rely on totalitarian power. It only arouses fear, not respect and esteem. You have power, but no authority. You vaunt your pretended total authority and unanimous support, but this is only the product of fear: the people's and your own." "You are not prepared to budge an inch in the face of demands for human rights or the slightest measure of democratization.... you live in a de facto state of permanent crisis." [The Power of the Powerless, by Vaclav Havel, page 130-131] "Even the phrase 'independent citizens' initiative' is a provocative anomaly in totalitarian systems of the Soviet type... the authorities are incapable of suppressing and eliminating it, although they do try 1. to keep it under surveillance; Jeff asks: Now isn't this exactly how Scientology handles a.r.s.? "For the crust presented by the life of lies is made of strange stuff. As long as it seals off hermetically the entire society, it appears to be made of stone. But the moment someone breaks through in one place, when one person cries out, 'The emperor is naked!' - when a single person breaks the rules of the game, thus exposing it as a game - everything suddenly appears in another light and the whole crust seems then to be made of a tissue on the point of tearing and disintegrating uncontrollably." [The Power of the Powerless, by Vaclav Havel, page 42-3] The Power of the Powerless by Vaclav Havel is just so great. It's written by several people involved in Charter 77, which helped turn Czechoslovakia from a dictatorship to a democratic country nonviolently. Here's another section about dictatorships... "This system serves people only to the extent necessary to ensure that people
will serve it... anything which leads people to overstep their predetermined
roles is regarded by the system as an attack upon itself." One point of Havel's writing is that the dictatorship becomes a system whose goal is self-perpetuation. No one person is necessary for this goal, only submission to the Ideology that drives the system. You don't need belief, you don't need a particular person, you just need submission to the rituals of the Ideology. So, what would happen if a Scientologist chose to never applaud LRH at any meeting? What would happen to that Scientologist? I'll bet I know, and I'll bet you know too. Because that person is belittling the importance of the rituals of the Ideology, that person is threatening the system. All must be subservient to the system.
